Chris Warkentin, Member of Parliament for Grande Prairie–Mackenzie will join Peace Country residents in celebrating the 150th anniversary of Canada’s confederation.
“I’m proud to celebrate Canada’s sesquicentennial this year,” Warkentin said. “150 years ago today, Canada was born, with Alberta and the Peace Country strengthening this nation 38 years later.”
“As we celebrate this milestone anniversary, we can’t help but be reminded of the true heart and soul of this country, the people and communities of Canada. Without the strong ties between families, neighbours, and friends that build our vibrant communities, Canada would not be the country it is today, the best country to live in the world.”
“As the Member of Parliament for Grande Prairie–Mackenzie, I am blessed every day to see the perseverance and hard work of the folks in the Peace Country matched by their care for their neighbours and deep commitment to strengthening our communities.”
“I know that the Peace Country embodies the best of what it means to be Canadian. I am proud to bring these values to Ottawa to help steer the course of our great country. Just as I hope to set an example worth emulating for my children, the Peace Country sets an example for Canada, and Canada for the world.”
“As we celebrate this significant anniversary of our country’s birth, I call on the people of the Peace Country and those across Canada to continue to strive for heartfelt compassion for their neighbours, diligence in their work, and dedication to the communities that make the heart of our nation beat.”
