Today I asked the Minister of Agriculture if he would help Canadian Pork Producers stop a virus that has killed 8 million pigs in the USA.

The Agriculture Minister’s office said that the Minister would not intervene to help keep the virus out of Canada, but I wanted to give the Minister another chance to commit his support to Canadian farmers.

He didn’t.

I asked about a pig-killing virus… the Minister stood up and rambled about food safety.

I’m not reassured by the answer and farmers won’t be either.
